Jonah Parzen-Johnson, has been teaching and playing music in Brooklyn for almost two decades. He has performed in more than a dozen countries across four continents, and been voted a Downbeat Magazine Critics Rising Star. You can find Jonah performing at NYC Jazz clubs like, Dizzy’s Club, Nublu and Smalls, as well as rock clubs like Bowery Ballroom, Brooklyn Bowl, & Elsewhere.

Jonah completed a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Studies from New York University in 2010. Following NYU he completed a Master of Music in Jazz Saxophone Performance from Manhattan School of Music in 2012. He has been teaching students privately for over a decade, as well as spending 6 years teaching beginning and advanced band at PS154 in Windsor Terrace.

As an instructor, Jonah believes that music lessons are about more than mastering an instrument or a certain style. Music helps explore creativity, the art of learning, and the empowering exploration of self expression. Jonah teaches patiently and focuses on catering every lesson to each student’s style of learning and musical interests.
